Balenciaga launches new handbag collection

since joining Balenciaga in 2012, Alexander Wang has diversified the brand’s handbag offering. In addition to revisions on the iconic City bag (The Bag of the early aughts), Wang introduced the Le Dix line and the Cable Shopper, both notable for their simple shapes and sleek hardware. Today, Wang’s latest creation goes live: the Neo Classic Mini bag. 

The small shoulder bag is a new direction for the label. Smaller, cuter, and pinker than Balenciaga’s other purses, the Mini is the eye-catcher that will put the label on the arms of street-style stars, editors, and younger fashion fans. Available in black, navy, and a bubblegum pink, the style has a chain strap that allows for cross-body wear—a favorite of It girls on the go.

The spring-summer 2015 advertising campaign from Givenchy stars none other than actress Julia Roberts. The A-list star forgoes her signature smile for a more serious look as she wears a menswear-inspired jacket and sheer shirt in the two images captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. “I decided to make her more intellectual, more serious, more pure,” Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tiscitold WWD, who revealed the images. “It’s a different, fresh, new way to see Julia — really cool and urban, I think.”
